– (DE) Mr President, I, too, was in Sarajevo and in Mostar at times when shots were ringing out every second, and that makes me grateful that – thanks to Dayton – there is no war going on there now, but the absence of war is not the same thing as peace, and, since crucial conditions still remain to be complied with for peace to prevail, it is with concern that I note the imminent replacement of Mr Schwarz-Schilling, a tried and tested international delegate who got his policies right.
- (DE) Monsieur le Président, j’étais également à Sarajevo et à Mostar lorsque les tirs retentissaient à chaque seconde et je me réjouis du fait que - grâce à l’accord de Dayton -, il n’y ait plus de guerre là-bas aujourd’hui. Cependant, absence de guerre n’est pas synonyme de paix et, dans la mesure où des conditions cruciales doivent être remplies pour que la paix prévale, c’est avec inquiétude que je note le remplacement imminent de M. Schwarz-Schilling, représentant international confirmé, connu pour avoir mené une bonne politique.
